How does Plan make a difference?

Plan's active support for child development over a long period of time aims to improve the healthy development of children from before birth, through safe delivery, preschool care and development, primary and secondary education, to an adulthood in which they can be valuable and productive members of their community.

Plan works to overcome the barriers that prevent children from breaking out of the poverty cycle. Its advocacy initiatives are aligned to child rights as laid down by the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child.

By involving children and seeking their views at every stage of program design, implementation and evaluation, Plan ensures that children play an active role in their own growth.

Plan while providing immediate relief also works with the community the children are in, an approach we call “Child Centered Community Development,” because we believe that no child exists in isolation, but is part of a larger community and hence to bring a change in the life of the child a change in the community is a must.

To have a long-term impact on the lives of children efforts are made to ensure children their rights through awareness raising and support for educational and vocational training. Across Plan’s projects a common theme is participation and children having a voice of their own.

What will Plan do with my Donation?

Plan runs various programs to work with children in difficult circumstances. These programs essentially focus on education, health care, nutrition and shelter. We also enroll children in Child media programs and ensure their participation in the innovative programs to empower them so that they can voice their opinions.

Emphaisi is also on preventive measures like disaster preparedness in disaster prone areas, prevention of child labor and instances of street children, prevention and inclusion of HIV affected children, etc. The money that you contribute will go towards these programs.
